The recurring difficulties of creating, managing, and understanding extremely large and complex datasets have become a common thread in many of our projects and collaborations.

The Center for Extreme Data Management Analysis and Visualization (CEDMAV) focuses on theoretical and algorithmic research, systems development, and tool deployment for dealing with this extreme data in fields such as:

  • geospatial information systems
  • astrophysics
  • climate modeling
  • energy production and distribution
  • medical imaging

CEDMAV also develops its own training program to teach undergraduate and graduate students the techniques needed for dealing with extreme data problems, while preparing them for the challenges of modern science investigation and the management of large data centers.
